Mark Renton, Mirror Lake (LANDSCAPE 2026)
Our local lake is something quite special, with many different viewing points and different characters. This particular vantage point is the furthest from home, about 30 minutes' drive, but affords the longest lake views. The hills in the background are around 25 km away as the crow flies, meanwhile the more intimate lake scene has a raging boulder surf beach just over the other side of the bar. This particular day there was uncharacteristically no wind creating this massive magical mirror. I enjoy capturing “big picture” shots that allow the landscape form to be fully appreciated, while stitching allows be to keep the detail so I can zoom in to appreciate the micro scenes, the best of both worlds.
